On April 19, Moscow hosted the largest conference in the field of ophthalmology “Ophthalmology 360°. Health care, marketing, digitalization, law", which brought together leading industry experts: practicing ophthalmologists, representatives of regulatory bodies in the field of health care, specialists in the field of medical law and marketing.
Natalya Thotahewage, Counsel in Lidings Life Sciences Industry Practice, took part in the section “Medical Law: New Challenges”. The discussion was supported by the Russian Bar Association and the National Medical Chamber.
Natalya highlighted legal issues of promoting medical services, new issues in the interaction between the medical community and manufacturers of medicines and medical devices, RR clinics. Of particular interest were the new type of liability for improper advertising distributed via telecommunications, labeling of advertising in clinics' own telegram channels, qualification of publishing patient stories and videos on websites and ways to protect the business reputation of medical institutions.
Together with fellow lawyers from Eye Microsurgery, the National Medical Chamber, the A.N. Bakulev National Medical Center of Cardiovascular Surgery, the National Medical Center of Eye Microsurgery, the National Medical Center of Eye Microsurgery, and the National Medical Center of Cardiovascular Surgery. Together with their colleagues from the A.N. Bakulev National Medical Chamber, the A.N. Bakulev National Medical Center, the Department of Medical Law of the Moscow State Law Academy and the legal community, they also discussed the legal issues of evidence-based medicine in court proceedings on patient claims against clinics, the legal basis for the provision of health information, the criminal liability of doctors, the permitted use of off-label, and the contradictions in the regulation of medical care for glaucoma.
