Lidings traditionally supports 10th Moscow pre-moot for the Willem C. Vis Moot Competition annually taking place in the Russian capital on the dawn of spring. This year’s event is scheduled to take place on March 22-24 traditionally hosted by the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
Alexander Popelyuk, Lidings’ dispute resolution practice partner, will serve as an arbitrator of the competition. He will also be in the arbitrator’s committee at the final rounds of the Competition taking place in Vienna on April 13-18.
Advocate with substantive experience in representing clients’ interests in arbitrazh courts, Alexander, among others, gives a lot of effort to participating in various educational student programs sharing his expertise with young professionals. He runs lectures, interactive master-classes and seminars, act as arbitrators of different students’ moot court competitions in Russia and abroad.
The Willem C. Vis international Commercial Arbitration Moot — named after Willem Cornelis Vis, a renowned expert in international commercial transactions and dispute settlement procedures — is an annual international moot court competition held in the capital of Austria. The Vis arbitral moot competition is a collection of simulated arbitral proceedings aimed at fostering study in the field of international commercial and arbitration laws and encouraging the resolution of business disputes by arbitration. Every year the competition brings together students from dozens of countries and more than 300 universities all over the world. The moot’s popularity is largely determined by the participating arbitrators and judges, world-renowned law experts.
