From September 01, 2023, changes1 in the procedure2 for conducting medical examinations before, during and after a workday (shift) come into force. Namely, starting from September, employers will be granted the right to conduct such examinations remotely – using medical devices that provide automated remote transmission of information about the health status of employees and remote monitoring of their health status.
In the case of remote medical examinations:
- personal identification of the employee undergoing a medical examination should be ensured to exclude cases when another person undergoes medical examination instead
- with respect to the employee, chemical and toxicological studies of the presence (absence) of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their metabolites in the human body should be conducted in person at least 2 times a year
At the same time, remote medical examinations are not allowed for certain categories of persons3:
- involved in organized transportation of children groups or transportation of dangerous goods
- involved in regular intercity transit of passengers on routes with at least 300 km distance
To implement the possibility of remote medical examinations, the Government will establish:
- details of medical examinations
- requirements for medical devices used for medical examinations
- requirements for employees conducting a medical examination
- rules for conducting chemical and toxicological studies in relation to employees undergoing medical examinations
